Large or irregular stitches can ruin even the nicest applique motif. To avoid these problems, use #100 applique thread and needle. The stitches are nearly invisible, but the thread is very strong and will keep your motif safely in place. I recommend using the applique needle, as the applique thread is very fine and easily comes off most sewing needles.
